Yozgat Geographical Location
Yozgat province is mostly located in the Central Kızılırmak Section of the Central Anatolia Region. The northern parts of the provincial lands are located in the inner parts of the south of the Central Black Sea Region. It takes the 15th place among 81 provinces in terms of soil width. It is one of the important administrative regions of our country in terms of its size. Yozgat Province is located in the Central Kızılırmak Section of the Central Anatolia Region, between 34°5'-36°10' east meridians and 38°40'-40°15' north parallels. The territory of the province is surrounded by physical elements such as Akdağlar from the east, Delice River Valley from the south, and Deveci Mountains from the north. The provincial administrative borders are Çorum, Amasya, Tokat from the north; Sivas from the east; Surrounded by Kayseri, Nevşehir, Kırşehir from the south and Kırıkkale from the west, the height of Yozgat from the sea is m. and its surface area is 14037 km².
The Yozgat region has a continental climate with hot and dry summers and cold and harsh winters. In general, July and August are the hottest months. There are 13 districts connected to Yozgat. These are Akdağmadeni, Aydıncık, Boğazlıyan, Çandır, Çayıralan, Çekerek, Kadışehir, Saraykent, Sarıkaya, Sorgun, Şefaatli, Yenifakılı and Yerköy.
Landforms
Yozgat province generally has a plain structure in terms of landforms. Plateaus cover most of the landforms. There are mountains and hills that are not very high on the plateaus. Alluvial plains were formed on the valley floors and pits that disintegrate the plateau surface. Since a large part of the province is located on the Central Anatolian plateaus, plateaus form the main landform of the province with 51.4%. Mountains in Yozgat do not form regular and high ranges.
The mountains are inserted into the province area from the provinces of Sivas, Tokat and Kayseri. Mountains make up 37.7% of the landforms. In Yozgat, plain areas are relatively less. Plains covering 10.9% of the provincial area are generally collected in the Çekerek Valley, which enters the Yeşilırmak Basin. The east, west and middle parts of Yozgat are mountainous, and the altitude decreases as you go from east to west. The eastern parts of the province are populated by the extensions of the Akdağlar, which regularly stretches between the province and Sivas, Tokat, and Kayseri. The sub-units of this order, which runs parallel to the Kızılırmak Valley and are generally referred to as Akdağlar, are Çamlıbel Mountains, Akdağ, Karababa Mountain, Hamzasultan Hill and Kurşunlu Mountain.
